It's official

Today, after taking a look at the Kansas City Unconvention site, I bit the bullet, made my hotel reservation and paid the registration fee. That's in late October.

I'm not sure how the rest of the trip will go. It might turn out to be a cheapie there and back. Or it could be the full month-long RTW and road trip I've been planning for a while.

Best scenario is that I get all the money owing to me, pay off the plastic, and book a LONE4 round the world ticket via oneWorld. That's sixteen economy flights, and if I go the full gruel, it will get me a pile of status points and airmiles. Not quite enough to retain my elite status, but I'm hoping that I'll be "comped" for a year. I just don't have the dough for a DONE4 this year. I'd hire the car from KC and do a two week road trip around the South. Maybe less than two weeks, because I'm going to have to pause for sleep a few places through Asia and Europe, and that will slow me down and eat into my time in the USA.

Worst is that I'd fly there and back - which will cost less than going RTW, but take a lot less time - skip the pre-convention roadtrip, and dip out on a bunch of points.

Anyway, I don't have to make a decision for a while, and it depends on how much money I have available, and on the plans of others. But I'll get there.
