Books Around the World

skyringBusy day today. The book orders kept on coming and of course I had to pack them up and post them by the time the post office shut. A mixed bag today: USA, Canada, Brazil, Germany, Japan...
Japanese addresses are the worst. There's about a dozen lines in each one, all odd words and numbers, and I have to check it all carefully. Sometimes I run out of room, and "Japan" ends up scrunched down neer the bottom. Did my old trick of sending a Bookcrossing book as a "stiffener" with a light book going to Adelaide in a 500g satchel. Another went off to the American Book Store in Brisbane. I remember when I used to shop there as a uni student, hunting down all the science fiction titles that hadn't been released in Australia yet. Asimov and Heinlein were still alive then. Oddly enough it was an Asimov title I sent them. A non-fiction book of the sort he used to churn out for entertainment in a week.
And there was a package of three books to BiblioQuest in Bowral. They pay the Reply Paid postage, but I'm still down a buck or so for packaging materials. Thank goodness for my huge markup and low overheads.
I even made a start on my Nano. A couple of paragraphs, but it's a start. Can't get sidetracked - there's a ton of writing on Bookcrossing Through OZ yet. And an increasingly short time to get it done.
A box of books from Lulu arrived today. Ten copies of Bookcrossing Through Middle-Earth. I'll give one ot two away at the convention. One to go to Google Print - have to buy an ISBN for the title. More work. That can wait for a few days.
