The last time I flew out of Hong Kong (a couple of years ago), I also used the Airport Express check-in counter at the railway station. From memory, only Cathay Pacific had a counter at the time, although that may have changed since. It was very quick and convenient. I stepped onto the train with only my hand luggage and then waltzed through the airport unencumbered. Now, if only they'd extend the service to checking-in straight from the hotel!
