Geeky
Amcor continues to rise, as does Santos. Two days to go until the ex date is past and I can sell them. Amcor would have to drop 10% or more for me to make a loss on that leg of the deal. Thought I might have had a chance on Metal Storm, which is showing a lot of interest after a couple of market-sensitive announcements, but no. Then again, this is a stock that could double in value in a day.
Spent a lot of the night playing around with Visual Studio and ASP.NET. Bit of a new world for me as I've never done much in the way of web programming before. Sure, I've installed the odd canned product, but never got my hands what you'd call dirty. Couldn't get it working for a while, made and delted test pages. The HTML page would show up fine, but obviously the codebehind page wasn't working, because I'd click on a button and nothing would happen.
I made a new test page, tried it out and found that the page load event had fired and changed a heading, even though that was for the previous incarnation of the page. Hmmmm. Obviously something was happening, but it wasn't all wired together correctly.
Then I looked around, found the "Rebuild Solution" menu item, hit that and Bingo!
So that's nice. I can get bits and pieces working. Next step is to upload some data and play around with that.
Not intended to be a really complex site. It's a freebie webhosting deal and I just want to muck about. As a graphic designer I make a good programmer, and as a programmer I make a good bookseller.
