Nov. 20th, 2007 02:18 pmI can't see myself making NaNoWriMo this year. Not enough time, you see. Realistically, I have a couple of hours each day when I'm not driving or sleeping. In theory, I have a bit of time when I'm waiting on ranks, but not as much as you might think. I usually drop someone off and then drive to wherever my best chance of work is. I might not even get to a rank before I get my next job. In fact, until about seven o'clock, my aim is to get to the Manuka rank where I can get a muggacino and a rockcake from Artoven, but usually I don't actually get there - a job pops up on my screen, sometimes as I'm preparing to climb out of the cab.
About seven things quiet down and I have my snack. Somewhere around eleven I might have a powernap and then it's usually steady work for the rest of the shift. About half-past four, I'm home again, tiredout and ready for sleep.
I write a few pages in my Moleskine each night, but this'd be a thousand words max. I don't have time to type it into the computer. In theory I have two days off, but so much of that is catching up on sleep, spending family time, and doing chores that there isn't much left over for writing.
However, I intend to keep on going with the novel. It might just take me a year to finish. I should have oodles of time aboard the cruise ship.
On that note, I need to get organised. I need a ferry from Portsmouth (or thereabouts) to Guernsey. Anyone know anything about these?
I also need a reasonably cheap and convenient hotel in Paris. And another in St Malo. And another in London.
Our current timetable gives us about a week in London before the convention, but I'm not sure I want to spend all that time there. I don't want to hire a car and go driving madly all over England, but.
One more thing, and if anybody in the US can help, i'd be grateful. I ordered a new Levenger Circa hole punch a few months back, and it didn't arrive. I searched through my email and found they'd wanted me to pay a hundred odd dollars shipping and I had to contact them. They weren't answering their phone, and the email bounced.
Would anybody be interested in being a shipping address for me and then using plain old cheap US Post to send it on to me? I'd be more than happy to reimburse costs and add something for the time and trouble. Or make it up in goodies from Levenger.
***SIGH*** Half past two. I've got ten minutes to shave and get dressed, twenty to drive to Gungahlin, thirteen hours to the end of my shift, another half hour to get home and go to sleep, and then wake up and do it all again four more times with a whopper on Saturday night when I drive until dawn.
But oh, how the money rolls in!
