A quick link

I'm a bit of an organiser junkie. My life is probably one that could do with a lot more organisation, but it's the tools that attract me. Preferably leather-covered and elegant in design.

I attended a workshop run by Day-timer oooh, fifteen years back, and ever since, i've had a Day-Timer of one sort or another, sometimes going up or down in size. My current one is a little too big for anything but cargo pants, but it's a handy size for the stuff I keep in it. What is usually called "Junior" size where the pages are roughly half an A4/Letter size sheet of paper.

Then there's my travel journals, which I make up after my trips, with narratives, maps, ticket stubs, postcards etc.

I was put onto the Levenger Circa system for these, and I now go with the Letter size, because so much travel ephemera is too big for Junior size. Or, if it isn't, I only get a few bits on a page. Not as creative or formalised as scrapbooking, but it's a good way of making a record of a long trip and keeping all those exotic dockets or menus handy.

I've never really been a fan of non-paper systems, despite every computer ever made having some sort of calendar or organiser software. The main problem is that computer systems haven't been portable enough, or durable enough. I can carry around a journal and it will still be readable fifteen years or fifty years from now. How many bits of computer software of that vintage are still usable? Even if you can read the media - floppy disks, anyone?

I've been browsing Levenger - I LOVE their stuff - and ordered up a few new things, now that I've worked out how to arrange shipping from the store. A recent Google search (so I could find their webpage) pulled up this link, which has wasted a good deal of my morning. Reviews of all sorts of interesting stuff, discussions, concepts, articles, humour...
