I was browsing through the eHarlequin forum and I spotted the blog of Valerie Parv, a fantastically successful writer of romance novels based in Canberra. She's a recent convert to BookCrossing, I notice.

Last night I was listening to Jenny Kendall-Tobias on BBC Radio Guernsey. She's had a couple of fantastic show recently, and this one was a ripper. She was interviewing a celebrity chef, who was interested in exploring the edge of the BBC's good taste envelope. He did so in the funniest possible way, and Jenny who loves a laugh was following along nicely. Really, it was all laughing, including me at home.

At one stage the chef was talking about kangaroo meat, and I sent in an email to Jenny saying how awful it was that someone should barbecue the national emblem. She read it out, and a few minutes later along comes an email from "Andy in Alexandria" pointing out that when he'd visited in Sydney this time last year we had eaten kangaroo and emu pizza.

Hmmmm. What you might call an unfortunately reliable memory!
