The postman has just delivered...
May. 31st, 2006 04:37 pm...Four copies of A Little Twist of Texas!!!!
One for me, signed and dedicated by Linda, one for Calissa, and two for me to ring.
I love the cover art. A big black motorcycle and a long, lonely road stretching out ahead. I am truly in awe of Linda for undertaking this trip, a trip in several dimensions, a journey of exploration of the great wide world and of herself, and of the many relationships that bind our world together.
Our paths crossed in Fort Worth, though I'd been reading her journal and riding along in her saddlebags, and when I flew off for San Francisco, I looked down at the wild and rugged terrain below me and imagined a tiny speck on a long loney road, an arrowhead of dust behind her.
There are mountains and songs and birds and beasts in this book, and though I read some of the early drafts, I shall read this book now that I have the whole package in my hands.
And get stuck into my own writing!
