Remember that rat? The one under the house gorging itself on the birdseed. Well, it et up the ratsak I left in place of the birdseed and I guessed it was feeling sick or dead or would soon die of starvation/poison, but it survived and I heard some stealthy gnawing under the floorboards a couple of nights back, so it hadn't died.

I suspect it's dead now, because half the power points in the house have gone out and there's a short somewhere because the circuit breaker won't click back on. Probably a fried rat somewhere down there. That happened this morning, and I'm coping with extension leads until Monday, when I'll get an electrician in to search and fix in the crawlspace. We must have a weird set of wires, because the kettle point still works, but the fridge and dishwasher either side don't. At least the TV and my computer(s) and my bedside lamp still work, so it's not a major problem.

And the Ford is making expensive-sounding noises. That can wait until Monday as well.

YMCA Garage Sale this morning. I suspect they open up the goodies the previous day, because the books were well and truly picked over. Usually amongst the random junk there's the odd treasure, but there wasn't a real lot to get me interested this morning. Came home with maybe a hundred books, mainly b-grade paperback fiction, which will be useful Bookcrossing material. It's 50c a book, 3 for a dollar and $10 a box. I turn up with a big box and cram them in. That's 20-25c a book and they are mostly in good nick, just not terribly desirable. Old thrillers mostly.

Judy from Readers' Rendezvous has gone through them before the sale opened, I bet, because there wasn't a decent crime book in the whole lot. I'm talking 100 metres of tables here.

Kerri returns tomorrow. Poor love, she'll be tired after the long flight. Stockholm-Heathrow-Changi-Sydney-Canberra.

Birds are making a meal of it. Couple of rosellas on the feeder, one below sharing the bounty, peewee and crested pigeon as well.
