Rain, glorious Rain!

Friday was a pretty wet day, and today has been pretty steady. It's going to be a great spring.

And the birds are all singing lovemenow songs.

And I've been extremely lazy, apart from going shopping with Kerri this morning. Finished one of ResQgeek's books and started on the other. In the meantime I'm reading a couple of the popular mathematics books we gained from the uni library haul.

Did I mention that one of those books worth $US100 or so?

All in all life is good, finances are on track, I'm racking up airmiles any number of ways short of actually flying, and I'll definitely be in Toronto next April one way or another.

When you start making your plans for Toronto, I would suggest that you seriously consider adding a day to visit Niagara Falls. Niagara is only about a two hour drive from Toronto, and it would be a shame to be so close and not see it!

Oh, I have to second that idea. I've only been to Niagara Falls once (that time was in April too) and it is magnificent. It's also a nice time of year to visit because it's not crowded with tourists.

I may go again then too. We'll have our van there. We might even take Skyring with us. :)

Yes, I think I was there in April too a couple of years ago. Beautiful from both sides (US and Canada). I think the only problem with April is that it can still be a little chilly/rainy and the boat tours at the bottom (Maid of the Mist) may not be running yet.

Hmm. I just checked, this year they started on April 21st, so maybe they will be running during the convention.

Perhaps I might be deemed less than patriotic for this, but I find it difficult to be excited by cricket.

Baseball, on the other hand, is a good example of a game done right. Seeing the Blue Jays whomp the Texas Rangers in Arlington was a highlight of my Fort Worth trip. Mind you, none of the books I released that night were caught....

Now - I must admit - until this summer cricket left me cold too. But now my 9 year old son has discovered a passion for playing the game, and England are winning for a change - and the English footy team are so disapointing - I findmyself liking it more and more.

It won't last long though.... bit like the rugby craze a little while ago!

You never know. A century old sport can grow boring. But when the long-standing champions get toppled, then the thing livens up. Heaven knows why Australia has done so well for so long. Something to do with ferocious moustaches perhaps.

And perhaps a game that stretches several days with scheduled sleep breaks can be all the more exciting for that with the morning papers able to report on progress.

Me, I'm wondering whatever happened to the West Indians. They used to be able to make a game fizz with excitement.

My camera can do movies. If packaged correctly, the book should survive. It would also be crossing an international frontier, all by itself.
